A new series of 13 dramatisations of stories by W. Somerset Maugham begins on Thursday, BBC2.  The plays, as in the previous Maugham season, are divided into three categories:  'Rule Britannia,' 'Women of the World' and 'Victims of Fate.'  Among the writers responsible for the dramatisations are Andrew Brown, Hugo Charteris, John Bowen and Simon Raven.  The first story, The Force of Circumstance, is set both in England and Malaya.

On Radio 4 the occasional series, Maugham, The Storyteller, continues.  This week the play is 'The Kite.'
